To the Outback and Back — Food at Alice Springs

Perhaps I can take a break from the history, culture and the nature and discuss the food that I had in this part of Australia. Surely, I heard all about the bush tucker and the kangaroo tail, which are considered essential and delicacies in aboriginal diet. For tourists, the food of the outback is just about what we have in any Australian city. Alice Springs does have a good selection of restaurants to offer.
For all nights in the Outback I stayed in Alice Springs, then during the day I joined tours. I therefore had most of my suppers in Alice Springs. Here are some of the restaurants that I visited. I have to say, they were not bad at all, although the standard Australian / western / Italian are clear winners, as opposed to Chinese food.
Asian Noodle House

| Restaurant | Address | Comment | Recommendation |
| Asian Noodle House | 38 Hartley St, Alice Springs NT 0870, Australia | Fair Chinese food in Alice Springs. | Lukewarm. |
Bella Alice

| Restaurant | Address | Comment | Recommendation |
| Bella Alice | 57 Todd Mall, Alice Springs NT 0870, Australia | Between pizza and pasta, I choose pasta, with some regret. The sausage pasta was great, but their pizzas are baked in a proper woodfire oven, and all other patrons ordered pizzas. It’s too bad that I did not stay long enough to visit it again for pizzas. | Yes. |
Epilogue Lounge & Rooftop Bar

| Restaurant | Address | Comment | Recommendation |
| Epilogue Lounge & Rooftop Bar | 1/58 Todd St, Alice Springs NT 0870, Australia | I had a sort of pita sandwich with cackling pork (the pork belly sanga) and it was a pretty unique menu item in Australia. I liked the balance of meat and salad. It was the last lunch I had in Alice Springs and it left a good impression. In its proper restaurant menu there is a dish that features bush tucker. | Yes. |
It was a pity that all my available spots for meals did not meet the opening times of the Confucius Palace Dumpling Restaurant.

It seemed to me that it would have served the comfort food of choice for me. Suffice it is to say that Asian Noodle House served much better Chinese food than what I got in Launceston, Tasmania.
