From Parkview to Repulse Bay Villa
The plan for the day is to hike the Wilson Trail Section 1 via Violet Hill to end at Repulse Bay. We began at the Stanley Section of Wilson Trail Section 1 at Parkview. The entrance is across the street from the public parking lot on Tai Tam Reservoir Road. If you take a taxi, look out for the parking lot on the left on Tai Tam Reservoir Road before one arrives at Parkview proper. The Stanley Section is on your right.
Hiking in Hong Kong is a varied experience. The rigorous trails train one’s perseverance. Some others reward hikers with exceptional views. Some are exploratory. Still some are mostly for the exercise. This trail comes with pleasant views throughout but the focus is more on the walking.
The beginning sections of the trail is a moderate to rigorous incline. We ascended on Violet Hill upon nice mountainous paths.
Once up on Violet Hill we looked back for a view of Hong Kong Island afar. Parkview stands alone on the east.
On the vantage point of Violet Hill, beautiful views of the Tai Tam Reservoir system unfold.
And a view of the southwestern end of Hong Kong, the establishments of the Repulse Bay area in sight.
Some sections of the trail are laden with stones. It requires additional attention to tread on the path. We then descended Violet Hill on nicely paved steps. At this crossroad, we went on toward Tsin Shui Wan Au.
At this sign, we chose the way of Tsz Kong Bridge.
About an hour and twenty minutes later, we arrived at Tsz Kong Bridge.
To take the exit path to Repulse Bay Villa, do not cross the Tsz Kong Bridge, but turn right before the entrance of the bridge. The exit path is a few meters further on the right. Although it does not look like a standard trail, it is well trafficked. Take on this path for about 10-15 minutes. You will then arrive at civilization. A bit further from this road there is the Repulse Bay Villa bus stop. Many bus lines run here and they will take you back to the busy districts of Hong Kong Island.
The hike is a bit more than 1.5 hours in total. We rushed to Causeway Bay for a bowl of fish ball noodles, before the 6pm ban on restaurant dine-in.
