We love to write, particularly about this beautiful and conflicted world. We are based in Hong Kong, and we dart about to different parts of the world every so often. By initiating this journal, we wish to share with you the impressions and learning that we gathered when we visited the many inspiring places that may or may not be familiar to you.
As travelers, we have done all kinds: solo, couple, group, budget, off the beaten tracks, the standard tours, the local way, the luxury even. What you will see here is not so much about traveling tips as it is about traveling thoughts. We hope that by the depictions and insights here you do get a glimpse of the place that we were visiting, and maybe you would even pick up a book or two that we recommend in order to learn about that particular part of the world.
Since we are based in Hong Kong, we also intend to share with you about Hong Kong life. As Americans, our perspective on Hong Kong is half-way local and half-way foreign. With that perspective we convey impressions that comport with our half-and-half identity, that hopefully the resulting insights are slightly more than, or rather different from, what you find on the guide books—well, as with all other places that we have visited.
The travel journals that we keep remain our most treasured memory. Writing is often our best companion on the road. Welcome to our world.
